Last week was a special milestone as it was the tenth marriage anniversary and our 20 years together anniversary – a double whammy. So let me show you our date night anniversary.
The week before the anniversary, I was like a bear with a sore head, as I was terrified that our plans would be cancelled due to the covid/omicron crisis. I was glued to the screen keeping fingers and toes crossed that we could celebrate a milestone. The thing was, I spent the best part of the year feeling so excited that we could observe our 10th marriage anniversary, and I was determined that nothing would spoil it for us.
The plan was to go up to the O2 arena, have a meal, and perhaps see a film. We would be arriving there using the Emirates cable car and putting the icing on the cake, and we would treat each other to a little special something. My special treat was a spa afternoon at Thai Square Spa, and I will be treating Richard to a go-karting track day.
Fortunately, we still could go ahead with our plans as nothing got shut down or cancelled, so I still got my spa afternoon, and we still went up to the O2.
Anyway, what made everything extra special was it was not only our 10th anniversary but also 20 years together—a significant milestone and one that I wanted to celebrate in style.
I told you the story of when I first met Richard, but basically, we met when we were both working at a retail store, and the first I spoke to him, he was on a pogo stick. The first time we properly got together was at the store Christmas party, and we were dancing to Kylie ‘can’ get you out of my head’. We became friends, realized that we were both nerdy and geeky. We got engaged two years after we met but put off the wedding as we had family issues and also the wedding was expensive, but we did eventually get married. We got married on the same date as that Christmas party, and that specific date seems to be not only our wedding date – but also the date we got together.
Our date night anniversary started with a quick visit to Westfield Stratford city to look at a few home furniture. The idea was to do some Christmas shopping, but we both looked around and didn’t find anything we liked. Even Primark and H&M let me down.
We then made our way over to the O2 but arrived in style via the Emirates cable car. If you’re ever in London, you need to try the Emirates cable car as it is such a brilliant little ride across the Thames and has a clear view across London. It is only a 10-minute ride, but you will be spending that time taking lots of photos.
I did try to take some photos of the Emirates cable car, but my photos turned out to be a little blurry, but hopefully, you will get the picture.
The O2 is another place you need to visit in London as it is not just a music arena, but there is a shopping mall, a cinema, a bowling alley, and 31 bars and restaurants. A fabulous place to spend a day or perhaps a date night anniversary.
Due to covid, we decided to skip seeing a film at their cinema, but we spent a long-time walking around their shopping area and having a cocktail at one of the bars.
Throughout your time inside the O2, it was required to wear a mask, and everyone kept their distance; I felt quite safe and felt pleased nothing got cancelled.
It was a special date night anniversary evening and one that I’m sure we are looking back on with fond memories.
Cheers to the first ten years of marriage and 20 years together – looking forward to seeing what will come next on the significant milestone.
