I was recently sent some Salcura beauty products to sample, I’m finally got round to do a review on these:
Salcura Hydrator Range (which is number 1 and 4) is packed with naturally active ingredients, such as Sea Buckthorn, Lavender Oil, Rosemary Oil Wheat germ Oil and Jojoba Oil. The products contain no parabens, SLS steriods, perxoides, cortisones, Lanolin and not tested on animal.
Salcura Wash products (which again is 2-3) is packed with naturally active ingredients such as Sea Buckthorn, Orange Oil, Lemongrass Oil, Wheat Germ Oil and Borage Oil. The products contain no parabens, SLS steriods, perxoides, cortisones, Lanolin and not tested on animal.
Ok that the science bit out of the way, don’t worry if you didn’t understood that, basically it all very natural and no dangerous chemicals is found in the products.
On to the review:
1. Face Hydrator
The idea of this to put a pea size onto your finger and to apply on the skin 2-3 time a day. when you squeeze this you do get a lovely citrus smell and applying onto the face is no problem, however when I did apply it on my skin it made my face very greasy and left me with an orange glow. Yes you read that right, I used this after I had swim as I wanted to give my skin some moisture (you know what it like after you been swimming, you skin/face look awful), immediately it felt greasy and I wanted to get a tissue and wipe it off but I didn’t as I thought I let it sink in. Soon after I felt really hot, like I was burning up I suddenly felt like I was in tropical summer day despite it being a cold rainy day; I never had this reaction before when using a product. Once I got home I notice I had this bizarre orange glow, my face went yellow, not bright yellow but a pale pasty yellow like you sick or something, so I quickly wiped this with a tissue and orange stain appear on it. I washed my face with water and use a different brand to clean my face.
Overall I wasn’t impress with this, for a product that made me hot (for no reason as I was normal temperature before, yes I did go swimming but I quickly cooled down soon after and I had drunk some ice cold water) and gave me a yellow skin glow. It very strange as I never had a reaction to a product like this before so needless to say I won’t be using this again.
2-3 Conditioner & Shampoo
I was excited to try this out as I do suffer from dry itchy scalp and anything to make me stop itchy my hair/scalp every few minute is a blessing. The same rule apply when putting on any shampoo & conditioner, wash into hair and then rinse and repeat. Once again I got the lovely citrus smell and it was lovely to wash onto my hair. The first time I used this it gave my hair a lovely shine and an itch free scalp. It was the next day I was at work and I was getting ready and I notice my hair was really greasy, the kind of greasy where you hasn’t washed your hair for a few day – It was something my husband remarked on and asked when I last washed my hair. I brushed it off and thought maybe it might just be nothing but I had people at work remarking how greasy my hair look; when my hair get greasy it has a real shiny texture and huge big knot appear. I used this 3-4 time before it finally twigged that the shampoo and conditioner (I wanted to give it the benefit of doubt) was the cause of my greasy hair. I went onto a new shampoo & conditoner brand to clean the grease out my hair but my hair was still horrible, so I had to buy a PH balance nature shampoo to help strip away all the grease, thankfully it help and my hair is back to normal.
I’m going to give this a miss in future, but I’m also going to give it a small benefit of doubt, it does say it help with itchy dry scalp but it also say use with dry/damage hair, now my hair is very oily and I never known it to be dry or damage. I’m thinking anyone with oily hair won’t get a good result on this however people with dry hair will, it did help with my itchy dry scalp those.
4. Face Wash
This was the last product I tested on and after having reaction to the previous one I was a little nervous. For my face wash I have always use the Simple Moisture Facial Wash and It has been brilliant for me and I wouldn’t change it, so I was interested to see if it could match it or not. Wash your face with warm water and then massage onto the face and then wash it off and pat dry. The liquid is a thick citrus smell and quite hard to pump using the spray so I had to undo it and get it from the bottle, when you massage this on it turn into a foaming texture and it didn’t sting or made my face itchy. I’m going to admit I was pleasantly surprise by this, I didn’t have a reaction; no hotness or greasy yellow stain, it actually made my face feel smooth and soft. This was the one product I was impress by and feel a relief to know there was one good product that I could use again. While I will use this again, I will stick with my Simple Facial Wash and use this as a back-up in case I need it.
Ok that the review done, I have been 100% honest with my experience, I’m not sure if anyone else had a reaction like I did; if you did then please I would like to hear it.
Salcura does has a policy of a 30 day money back guarantee and a full refund, as I was gifted with these I won’t take charge on this but if you end up buying from it and have a reaction it worth thinking about.
Take a look at the Salcura website and see if there anything for you.
