A friend of my husband recently ended up in hospital, so to cheer this person up and because hospital foods are rubbish, I decided to bake some caramel chocolate brownie.
Now, these were supposed to be salted caramel chocolate brownie, but I forgot to add the salt part of the recipe.; so yeah, they just caramel chocolate brownie and they still work just as well.
If you are familiar with my baking past, you will know that I like to use a kit or a cheating method. Let be honest I will never be a Delia Smith or Nigella Lawson in the kitchen.
The kit I used was Betty Crocker Gooey Salted Caramel Chocolate Brownie Mix. I tend to prefer using these kit as it usually involved putting the mixture together with minimal effort.
Like I said before, I’m not the world greatest baker.
I’m not going to do a step-by-step guide on how to bake this. But the simpler term is, putting the chocolate mixture in a bowl, then add eggs, water, oil and then stirred together till you get a lovely chocolatey consistency. Once it mixed, then put it onto a baking tray and cook the gooey mixture for about 15-20 minutes.
The recipe did say with the caramel add a pinch of salt – but I didn’t as I thought the salt was already added. The recipe also did say to fold the caramel into the brownie mixture – but I didn’t do that either and decided to put the caramel on top.
But it ended up fine and the caramel – while it did sink the mixture – it gave the brownie a gooey flavour.
The friend who I baked them for enjoyed these and said it was a welcome break from all the terrible hospital foods.
If you fancy caramel chocolate brownie one day, then I will say that you should use this Betty Crocker Gooey Salted Caramel Chocolate Brownie Mix as it really easy and quick to bake.
