Earlier this week we went to Hever Castle, here are the photos of what we saw.
Hever Castle, the birth home of Anne Boylan and if you know your history, you would know she was one of the wives of King Henry VIII. Since I was a little girl, I have been visiting Hever Castle, so I know this particular castle well.
If you are unfamiliar with Anne Boylan, let me quickly fill you in; she was the second wife of King Henry VIII, who was beheaded for her alleged crimes, including adultery and for not providing a male heir.
You might remember I visited Hampton Court last year, one of the homes of King Henry VIII – a place steep in Tudor history. Hever Castle is another place that is also steep in Tudor history, so if you are interested in all things Tudor, then visit both Hampton Court and Hever Castle.
Getting to the actual place is relatively easy from London as it is only an hour train journey and a short walk through Kent rural countryside to get to the castle gate. By car, it’s a little longer journey – perhaps 1-2 hours journey times.
As well as a castle on the ground, there is also a maze where I got utterly lost in. If you know me, you will know that direction isn’t exactly my strong suit.
I have said enough about my little visit to Hever Castle, so I will let these photos do the talking.
I’m also a little conscious that this blog is turning into a show and tell, which is something I don’t particularly want – it isn’t the direction I want to take this blog. So let me know in the comments if you like this kind of blog post or prefer something else.
