Thai Square Spa has been voted the best spa in London, so I was keen to try it out. It was an anniversary surprise from Richard to help celebrate a significant wedding milestone.
As I’m writing this, it’s our ten years wedding anniversary, and it is also 20 years since we first got together. So yes, love is in the air and the need to do something a little extra special: spending a day at one of London’s best spas: Thai Square Spa.
It was a little anniversary treat from Richard as we both wanted to do something special for each other. If you’re wondering, he wants to do Go-Karting, which we will do next year; So, I will be treating him to that – but for now, we are focusing on Richard treat to me.
Thai Square Spa was something I have walked past a million times as it 2-minute walk from Embankment and Trafalgar square. The stone exterior hides what lies behind it, and you would never guess that as soon as you walk through the door, you’re entering a different enchanting world.
Statues of Buddha lined the walls in many areas of the spa while dim candles were spaced out on the edge of the floor.
After I filled out the form, I was asked to change into my swimsuit and put on a robe. The robe itself was massive, and it just dragged on the floor while I was walking. I was also given slippers, but I gave up on them as they did fit me – let just say that spa wasn’t catered to short people.
I was led downstairs into the actual spa area and given tea which was lovely. The spa therapist greeted me and walked me into the treatment room.
I chose to have a 90-minute hot stone massage, so I was a little giddy with excitement when my treatment got underway. They started by giving me a lovely foot bath, and I was then asked to face down on the massage table.
The massage itself was amazing! The stone that was placed on a specific area of my body was hot – but not too hot. I had some kind of butter or perhaps lotion massaged into my skin, and it smelt divine!
The 90-minute zoomed by, and afterwards, I was led back into the waiting room, where they gave me another tea.
The waiting room has a Greek theme with columns and Greek paintings on the wall, which I thought was a nice touch.
I found out soon after I arrived at the gym that my treatment didn’t include the usage of their facilities, so I paid extra to use it.
Their facilities were a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. My thinking was that after a treatment, I just wanted to spend more time relaxing and to take in as much of the atmosphere as possible. It was a special treat, after all.
I used the jacuzzi and steam room that was just icing on the cake for me. I then found a lounge and decided to lie there staring into space while every muscle in my body relaxed, and I found it so difficult to move or motivate myself to return to the real world.
I felt I could lie there all day staring into space, but I forced myself to return to the real world as I was worried they would charge me more if I stayed any longer.
That is the one thing I haven’t mentioned about Thai Square Spa; it is a little pricy, but it is a premium spa, so you expect it to be a little outside of your average budget.
Overall, I highly recommend Thai Square Spa and if you are looking for a top -to toes pampering, then go for it as you won’t be disappointed. I would go back in a heartbeat.
