If you are like me and find wearing lipsticks irritate your lips and bring you out in rashes – Then there is a solution! I can’t wear lipstick, I never have been able too which is annoying as it add the little extra to your make-up routine. People would ask me ”oh where your lipstick?” or ”Did the lipstick rub off already? Don’t worry you can borrow mine.” I be like errrr I didn’t put any on or I would have to explain the situation about my lipstick rashes, I usually get the response ”oh dear, that a shame how your going to kiss your boyfriend?”. Ironically Richard have never like lipstick and don’t know what the fuss is all about so I never have to worry about that side of my make-up.
I do like lipstick and I do think it does finish up the make-up look and add a little glamour – especially Hollywood glamour as the iconic red lips worn by Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly is still a classic to this day.
I would like to show you my solution to lipstick-less lips : Lipstick crayon. Yes you did read that right, and it not a revamp lipstick hiding a secret code name. Here let me explain:
Lipsticks may be made from several waxes such as beeswax, ozokerite and candelilla wax. The high melting Carnauba wax is a key ingredient in terms of strengthening the lipstick. Various oils and fats are also used in lipsticks, such as olive oil, mineral oil, cocoa butter, lanolin, and petrolatum. Combining all these ingredients together can be the explanation on why I and I’m sure with other people ended up with rashes on their lips.
HaperBazaar has a good article explaining this further.
I have read a few reviews on lipstick crayon and how it help people who can’t wear lipstick. Lips crayon work more of a balm then a lipstick – it still have certain ingredients but took away a lot of the nastiest and left it with good stuff that can not only colour your lips but can add protection and stop it from drying much how a lip balm work. Oh did I mention it also work like a gloss.
When I heard about lips crayon, I knew I just have to try it out – sound too good too be true. I was not disappointed as I brought 4 variety colours and brand. The Rimmel Keep calm and party and Lasting Colour Rush, two colour pout. I brought these in Boots but you can buy them in any beauty store.
So did it irritate my lips and made me break out in rashes, no it didn’t! My lips for once has some colour to it and didn’t felt dry or rubbed off when I was drinking (you know the dreaded lipstick stain on a wine glass), I had a habit of licking my lips and I don’t think I did that once while having it on. I was really pleased and felt like I can finally put on some lippy.
This is what the colours look like and personally I was a fan of the last one as it gave me lovely rosy lips.
Overall no more rashly lips and if you do suffer from that then I do recommend you buy some lips crayon and add it to your make-up collections.
A Big Muwah x
