Last week I was invited to Spa London Kensington for a complimentary body treatment, now if you know me in real life you would know that I’m a spa-aholic. I love spa, just ask my husband and he would tell you how much I go on and on about it. I’m always talking about how if I win the lottery the first thing I would do is treat myself to a luxury spa-treatment in some tropical paradise. I love spa in the sense that it make my skin, body and mind feel amazing; it seem to heal any ache and pain and also really help my terrible dry skin. I always come away feeling very relaxed and peaceful. So as you can imagine I was excited to try out this complimentary spa experience.
Before I go any further, let me explain to you a little more about Spa London:
spa LONDON is an award-winning concept that has revolutionised the day spa market by offering a luxurious experience at an affordable price. Intended to make the therapeutic and recreational benefits of spa culture more accessible, affordable and widely available, spa LONDON at York Hall in Bethnal Green was the UK’s first public sector day spa.
We have locations around London and Surrey many of them in historic buildings such as Bethnal Green’s York Hall or the Ironmonger Row Baths in Islington. Our spas respect the historic nature of the sites, while offering modern treatments which are relevant to the 21st century customer.
spa LONDON is a brand of GLL (Greenwich Leisure Limited) working in partnership with local councils to deliver a quality service that locals can afford. GLL is a charitable social enterprise for all the community, a not-for-profit organisation with a firm belief in the power of social values. GLL’s success means we’re proud to be the first leisure operator in the UK to be awarded the prestigious Social Enterprise Mark and the Big Society Award in 2011.
The spa itself was situated in a gym/sport center so I had trouble finding it at first, it also right at the back of the center up some spiral staircase. I suppose if you live in the area where the spa is situated there wouldn’t be a problem, but as I was visiting and didn’t know the area and I kept getting lost so I kept asking people for direction.
Anyway I eventually found it and I was in the nick of time (I was worried I’d be late) , I was told to fill out the usual health/questionnaire form and wait for my therapist. After 5 minutes my therapist came out and took me into the treatment room.
(I was using my camera phone and the light in the room was dark so not the best, but you do get an idea – plus the camera on my phone is rubbish!)
I was told to strip naked and to lie down on my front onto the heated bed, most massage bed are cold and not that comfortable but this one was all heated and really comfortable. My therapist came back in the treatment began by the ringing all the bell. I opted for the shea butter body treatment as my muscle and body was looking for that extra TLC, she did let me smell the shea butter but as my nose was so blocked up I couldn’t smell it.However I think I drifted into my dream world as I can’t exactly remember my treatment and that 1 hour treatment felt like 5 minutes. I do remember her smoothing out all my muscle ache and pain, also my skin felt amazing. The treatment ended by the ringing of the bell, the therapist gave me a dressing gown and told me too take my time getting up.
As part of my complementary treatment, I was allowed full usage of the spa facilitates so my therapist soon took me to the changing room where I could dump my bag and get change into my swim wear.
The spa facilities included:
Ice fountain
Sauna
Monsoon shower
Aroma Steam room
Hydrotherapy Pool
Relaxation Lounge
I think you will agree with me that is an amazing spa facilities.
Here are a few pictures, I didn’t take a lot as there was other people around and I think the last thing they want is someone snapping pictures while they try to relax.
I really enjoyed using the hydrotherapy pool and the aroma therapy room. The hydrotherapy pool was basically a Jacuzzi and the aroma therapy room was a steam room that was ideal to clear my blocked nose. I will say if you are not used to a steam room then don’t enter on your own – it can feel really claustrophobic.
I used the facilities for a good hour and a half and would have stayed there longer but the batteries on my phone was dying and time was ticking. So with a very heavy heart I started to get ready to go home.
If you are in need of some personal TLC time and want somewhere to relax and unwind then I 100% recommend Spa London . It was an amazing experience and I really enjoyed myself. It revitalize my mind, body and soul – also my skin. I walked away feeling like a new woman and feeling amazing.
A big thank you to Spa London for my complimentary treatment.
