Now I said this before, but I’m really am a spa-aholic. And I love pampering myself at home. So this is why I’m trying out the Sanctuary Spa Warming Detox Charcoal Wash.

Now I don’t know about you, but I always need an excuse to have a pamper evening.  Who doesn’t want that excuse to have a pamper evening? Time to time we deserve our own little piece of heaven and that space to feel beautiful.

Over the years I have been looking into home spa – especially as professional spa day are so expensive. Also it can be so time consuming to visit a facilities and only getting a 30 minutes’ treatment.

This is why I love Sanctuary Spa and why over the years I have been reviewing their products. Their products are inexpensive and you can buy them at any Boots store (drugstore to my US readers). They give you all the luxurious spa products you would find at any high classed faculties. And you can do it in your own time at home, especially when you want the special pamper evening.

This is why I’m telling you today about this this Sanctuary Spa Warming Detox Charcoal Wash. I have been having bad skin recently. My face has been red and rashy. I have no idea on why this is, could be imbalance hormonal change, bad diet or just the effect of the environments.

So I reached out for help and decided to use this Sanctuary Spa Warming Detox Charcoal Wash, to solve my problem.

Sanctuary Spa Warming Detox Charcoal Wash

Let me explain this to you:

Intensely purifying yet non-drying deep cleanse daily face wash. This gently warming face wash helps open up pores & is infused with charcoal to help draw out impurities from within the skin.

Transforms from a refreshing gel to a silky oil to a purifying foam & rinses clean away to reveal perfectly cleansed, refreshed & purified skin. Helps unclog pores, reduce shine & remove excess oil for a smoother & clearer looking complexion.

I was intrigued by this and wanted to try this out. I’m always been a little curious to spa products that claimed to have ‘charcoal’ ingredient. In recent years adding charcoal to a products seem to be very popular. So I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

My first impression when I started to use this. It so runny and oily. Yeah when opening the flip be careful as this will go everywhere. I didn’t expect this to be so runny and liquid. I fortunately opened this in the bathroom but the liquid just fell instantly onto our laminated floor – I imagine this won’t be so good on carpet those. Use this over a sink is my best advice and perhaps also lay some old newspaper or towel on the floor.

I wasn’t expecting that from a facial wash product.

Despite my first impression I was still keep to try this out. The liquid was too runny to what I consider gel and it doesn’t go onto the face without dripping down. You suppose to use this on dry skin and then add warm water to help lather it up on the face. This grey runny liquid is supposed to be turned into a light white cream after lathering this up with warm water; much in the same vein when you lather soap under water. But this didn’t feel soap or had the white cream lathering effect. It just kept being a grey runny liquid that made me look l covered my face is some weird oily substance.

It also didn’t dry on the skin, just kept being this grey liquid goo. I myself never experience such runny liquid from a face wash.

One stupid thing that happen when applying the wash. I somehow got in my right eye. That was clever of me wasn’t it? So I had to wash it off with one eye open while the other was closed and getting more and more sored. Don’t worry I clean my eyes out and it just now look red.

Did I notice a difference with my skin? Not massively if I’m honest. After usage and patting my face dry, it didn’t feel smooth or clean. My skin felt a little bit sticky. Ok maybe sticky is the wrong word but it felt rough and like you put your whole face in some gooey substance. I found after a few minutes, my skin eventually did calm down and it felt smooth and clean, but It was unnerving to feel my face.

If you are worried about this end result, don’t be. Just simple wash the face in clean warm water and with a clean flannel. To put it into context: Have you ever put your face into silly patty or some jelly substance? No, just me then. You guys are way more grown up then me. If you have, then that what it feels like.

However, my skin ill effect has seemed to calm down and I like to think this wash has improved it. The red rash on my face looked to be clearing up so that is bloody good result.

I wouldn’t repurchase the Sanctuary Spa Warming Detox Charcoal Wash again, there are other facial wash that isn’t so runny and gooey. I also feel this isn’t a good representation of the Sanctuary Spa brand, there are better products from them. But sadly this it on of them. My advice is to try out their other products for better success.
