Ladies, you know what I’m talking about here. When it comes to that time of the month and you are utterly in despair, don’t be as here are 5 ways to relieve period pain so you can still be happy throughout your day.
Until I hit my 30s I would suffer unbearable period pain. Where I would break down sobbing like mad as I be in so much pain. It would feel like my whole body was on fire and it was coming from inside and there was nothing I could do. There the period pain we would all suffer and then there is the unbearable horrible awful pain where your doctor diagnosed you as suffering from Endometriosis. That was me for a long time, until I hit my 30s.
When it would come to that time of month, I would have to shut myself away, cancelled all my plan or call in sick to work as leaving the house was a big no no. I would spend my day drugged up on painkiller and I would just be a complete wreck all day. Trust me (and I’m sure you ladies all know what I’m talking about here), it wasn’t a pretty picture.
I use to despair at school if it was a swimming class, it would be so embarrassing explaining to my teacher why I can’t swim in front of all the class. My swimming teacher hated me so she always made it difficult for me.
I once turned up to a job in so much pain that I threw up on the shop floor in front of the boss (for real!). So embarrassing!
Embarrassing and horrible experience aside, I have taught myself on how to relieve period pain over the year. During my 20s I saw a few gynecologists as both my mum and sister was nagging me to. It was very helpful and I learnt a lot of useful information.
So ladies if you want to find 5 ways to relieve period pain, then do read on.
Eat lots of Red meats
When It comes to that time of month, you will find your body irons levels drop and that often what can make you feel sluggish and so sleepy. We all been there. I have iron definancy and gynecologists has told me that eating lots of red meats a week before, during and after will help me. Red meats are packed with irons vitamins and mineral, and the more you top up your iron level the less like that time of month will hurt like hell. If you are a vegan or vegetarian I’m sure you can find alternative.
Have a long relaxing bath
I have been told this by people that laying in a pool of water actually helps relaxes the muscle where the pain is pounding you. So go grab a really nice Lush bath bomb, run yourself a bath and create a spa relaxing area. Just lay there and forget about the pain. Even when you get out of the bath, your muscle still be relaxing and easing with any pain.
Lay in bed with a hot water bottle
My sister told me this (as she also suffers from the same conditions as me so everything I went through – she went through it first!) tip when I first started to suffer. It just nice to lay in bed and get a hot water bottle and put it across the area that hurt. As with the bath idea, the hot water just relaxes the muscles and ease the pain. It also a good thing to do just before you want to sleep.
Turn to Herbal Tea
This comes from my mother in law and it does work. Once again it the heat I think that does the trick as it relaxes the muscle. So go brew up some herbal tea and start to feel more at ease with your body.
Massage yourself with essentials oils
I have found that using certain aromatic essentials oils and giving yourself massage can relieve any cramp pain you might be having. The two essentials oil I use is peppermint and eucalyptus. What I do is go somewhere quiet and rub the essentials oil on my hands and just start massaging the area where it hurt. This I do find help relaxes the muscle.
