I will openly admit that I don’t look after my nails. I rarely get manicure, so I was intrigued to try these Leighton Denny nails products.
The thing is that that moment I bother to do some TLC to nails, 10 minute later and they be all messed up again. I occasionally will paint my nails but I often don’t have the patience to wait around for them to dry and I also seem to have super-fast growing nails. Yeah, along with my hair which grows at a very fast rate, my nails do as well (which isn’t surprising as hair and nails are made from the same substance). The most common phase I hear people saying to me, ‘are your nails real?’. They are indeed real – I just seem to have some hormones in me that makes my hair and nails grow at rapid speed.
I rarely go into a manicure studio as I was once told that they nothing they can do to my nails – that’s nice isn’t it. To be fair, my nails are small and you can’t do any fancy art on them.
Basically my nails care can be summarizing as zero care. There are they on hands looking bare and sad.
Which bring me to my point, when I was asked if I would like to try out Leighton Denny nails products I couldn’t say no.
My mum always telling me, that as a young adult it’s about time that I look after nails; her theories is that it the first thing a man would notice about you. Ok that an old fashion notion and one that doesn’t seem to be true now day. Thanks god, as if my husband did notice my nails first – then I wouldn’t be sitting here writing to you all. As it happens, my husband doesn’t give a toss about my nails.
Oh, I’ve gone a bit off tracks here – basically what I’m saying is that it about time I take care of my nails, so I couldn’t say no with trying these Leighton Denny nails products.

- Before I get into my review, let me explain to you a little about Leighton Denny.
Leighton Denny’s passion for nails started over 20 years ago. In 2001, 2002 and 2003 Leighton won British Nail Technician of the Year and in 2004 he was voted into the Hall of Fame and became a judge.
For years, Leighton worked on celebrities and on countless fashion shoots and high profile events. In 2005, he decided to launch his own range, pouring all of his passion and expert knowledge into a range of professional quality products. Since then, the range has evolved into one of the world’s leading professional nail care brands. In 2015, Leighton was awarded an MBE for his contribution to the nail and beauty industry.
So how did I get on with using these products? Did I end up with model looking nails?
My nails before:
The first thing I tried was the Leighton Denny Expert Nails Trio.
I was shopping once and a pushy sale assistant grabbed my hand and told me my nails were all grubby and she had the perfect solution. I really did everything I could to tell her that I’m not interested –but she wasn’t listening. This pushy hand grabber sale assistant went on and explains how she got this amazing new products that instant shine my nails. Gave me a demo and yeah it did instantly shine my nails but the retail price was over £30. Get out of town!! So I ran off before she does a hard sale push on me.
This expert nails trio reminded me of that product demo, as it instantly did shine my nails. It looks very much like a nail file and one side is sandpaper while the other is smooth and shiny. What you do is just rub your nails on the sandpaper side first then turn over and use the smooth shiny side.
And Wholia you get instant shiny nails.
I was pleased I got this as a sample to try out. It does make your nails look shiny and smooth, but it isn’t worth the full retail price.
The Leighton Denny Repair Kit was the next thing I tried out.
This is described as a quick and convenient way to repair cracked nails in an instant. Within this kit you get:
- Nail Adhesive
- Nail Activator spray
- Another smaller size trio nails
- Strips
What you suppose to do is paint the nail with the adhesive first then use the activator spray; next you suppose to cover your nails with these thin strips and repeat the process of painting the nails with the adhesive and use the activator spray – and finally do this countless time.
This was so fiddly and the spray made my hand and nails all sticky. It was a bloody pain to do and one that I feel – you couldn’t really do this yourself. The strips didn’t really stay on and once it did it just stuck to my nails like glue.
I wasn’t impressed with this kit. I feel this is one nails product that is best left to the expert.
I tried the Black nails polish and the Hydra-flex shield.
(errr forgot to photograph the Hydra-flex shield on it own – but you can still see it on the main picture.)
With these two product, I kind of figure it would work better together. So I used the Hydra-flex shield first and then paint my nails with the black nails polish.
Both products dried quickly and I don’t have any real issue with the hydra-flex shield. If anything I made a mental note to use this next time I paint my nails as it was a very good undercoating.
However, the black nails polish was awful. It could be that black nails polish really isn’t my thing and I don’t tend to buy such a dark colours for my nails.
But this went everywhere! It left black mark on my hand and the actual polish was runny and thick. Urgh! I’m not showing you a picture as it looks a complete mess on my hand. I wasn’t fond of the nails polish – but would use the hydra-flex shield again.
And finally the Leighton Denny anti-aging hand therapy.
This is basically hand cream. I kind think this cream smell like the kind of chemicals you get from a hairdressing salon, if that make sense? A weird description but honestly I smelt this and thought of a hairdresser.
The cream sank into the skin quickly – which was a blessing. However, I felt then the top layer of the cream just kind of linger around on the surface. Not the best hand cream I have used, I will perhaps use this if I have an emergency.
Overall, do my nails look better for trying out these Leighton Denny nails products? – A little but not a huge amount noticeable. I was really only impress by the Expert nails trio and the Hydra-flex shield, the rest of the products I felt were just runny, fiddly and messy.
Let me know if you have tried out any of the Leighton Denny nails products. Perhaps you might have better luck then me.
