I’m always talking about my obsession with swing dresses, but I do have another love: Tea dresses. Here is me wearing a 1940s inspired tea dress.

Yeah while I might go on and on about loving swing dresses (it don’t mean a thing if you aren’t got that swing!) and how it fit my apple figure.

I do have another love and obsession with: Tea dresses, well more specifically 1940s ‘inspired’ tea dresses. You see, it all started quite a few years ago when owning a tea dress was quite the fashion craze and the high street was filled with ‘inspired’ tea dresses.

At the time I didn’t pay too much attention as I was working in retail and I had no need for a tea dress as I wasn’t really going out and socializing. And if I did ‘socialize’, it wouldn’t be appropriate to turn up somewhere in a tea dress as everyone will be in cocktails dresses.

But now I got all the time in the world, I find myself lapping up all the tea dresses I can find online and I keep nagging Richard to take me to afternoon tea somewhere. So I obviously I can have an excuse to wear one of the many tea dresses I have picked up recently.

What do I love about 1940s inspired tea dress then? Well, I suppose I find the whole idea of wearing a tea dress to be classy. You’re dressed like a lady and there no boobs or bum sticking out. It can be teamed with the most simpler of accessories such as a pearl necklace or a clutch bag.

I adore the retro floral prints and how the materials are often very light and airy. It isn’t skin tight and you can still have a bit of a flare with the skirt.

Which I suppose to bring me to talk about this 1940s inspired tea dress I picked up recently. It from New Look and sadly it now has sold out-  though you might still be able to buy it in a few selected stores.

But this doesn’t stop me showing it off to you guys. It was the kind of tea dress I have been looking for. Lovely retro floral prints, the materials are light and airy, it also isn’t skin tight. It ticked all the boxes for me.

So what do you guys think, will you be joining in my tea dresses obsession. Will you be picking up your own 1940s inspired tea dress?
