I went shopping in the week with one mission in mind, to pick up a new foundation. My beloved Bourjois healthy mix serum gel foundation has run out, so it was time to pick up something new. Here is my Bourjois Foundations & Mascara review.

To be honest I didn’t really stray far and when I went into Boots I headed straight to the Bourjois counter, I already made my mind up that I’m going to keep using Bourjois foundation as it been the best foundation I’ve ever used; if it ain’t broken – don’t fix it I say. What I love is how it coverage my face, it blend nicely and work well with my skin tone. So it was the case of just replenishing the foundation. However to my absolute horror, a nightmare present itself – I couldn’t find the gel foundation in the shade I wanted! Oh no, what will I do now? When it come to foundation shade, I have to find the lightest shade to match my pale pasty skin tone. I could just try another foundation brand – but I really wanted to keep using Bourjois products.  So I looked around the counter and notice there was a 3 for 2 offer and then an idea strike me, this would be a really good time to try out some other Bourjois foundations and products. I mean other foundation would still work just as well and this would be a perfect opportunity to try something new…

So I picked these 3 up:

Bourjois Foundations & Mascara

Bourjois City Radiance foundation, healthy mix foundation and Volume 1 second mascara.

So here is my reviews on these products as well as a before and after of me using these products.

My before face, my skin is completely bare and make-up free:

Bourjois Foundations & Mascara

(I’m not very good at looking straight at the camera.)

And this is me wearing the Bourjois City Radiance:

Bourjois Foundations & Mascara

City Radiance foundation contains SPF 30 and has an anti-pollution screen that reduces the presence of carbon particles on the skin, resulting in a fresh and luminous complexion. The formula hydrates for 24 hours and gives a light to medium coverage.

As you can see from the photos, not much different. This gave me really good coverage and certainly hide any spots or scars, it also felt light and blended nicely into the skin, doesn’t feel greasy which can be a problem for a lot of gel creamy foundation. I think it gave my skin a nice glow. It’s always good to pick up a foundation with sunscreen so I was happy to see that it was SPF 30.  OK so this might very well be the next one I need to replenish. I can see myself keeping this in my bag and putting it on whenever I need it.

The next one is the Healthy mix:

Bourjois Foundations & Mascara

(ignore the eyes, the photo is a little out of syncs.)

Radiant and flawless complexion for up to 16 hours! Bourjois’ Healthy Mix foundation is enriched with a fruit therapy formula to enhance your complexion.

•Apricot for radiance

•Melon for hydration

•Apple to protect your youth

It is also enriched with crystalline pigments to even out the complexion while letting in the natural light for that healthy looking glow.
Once again from the photo, not much different. This reminded me of my beloved Healthy mix serum gel foundation. I’m sure now thinking about it – these two are pretty much the same thing, the only different is the word ‘serum’ in one of them.  I’m going to repeat myself and say, yes I really I like this as well. It blended nicely into my pasty pale skin, it hide any blemish or spots and doesn’t feel greasy. Now here the big ‘but’ – this does have a smell to it, not an over powering smell but it certainly noticeable when applying. It smell of apricot and perfuming. This could be a deal breaker if you are not fond of smelly foundation, but I will say you only notice it when applying and it does not linger.

The volume 1 second mascara:

Bourjois Foundations & Mascara

(I can see into your soul!)

Bourjois’ NEW Volume 1 Seconde mascara has a unique brush with spherical bristles to wrap every lash in a 360° motion and straight bristles to create clump free definition. Apply in a zigzag motion to your top and bottom lashes for an instant eye-opening look.

Now there was a period a few years ago, when I was obsessed with mascara, I would buy a new one every week. This was due to the fact that I really wanted long eyelashes,  I wanted volume in those lashes without using fake lashes. I wanted to make my eyes look bigger and look more awake.

Anyway out of all the mascara I have tried, none has really impressed me and made me want to re-buy them. So for a while I gave up buying them. Until last week, when I picked up this volume 1 second mascara. My verdict. The brush is big but not so big that you can’t work with it, although you may want to hold it vertically when you apply the mascara to your bottom lashes (which might not be so great if you got unsteady hand like me). The mascara separates the lashes and provides volume without to much clumping, although I wouldn’t recommend leaving too much time between each coat. But while it does last all day, it will smudge easily  (I use the non-waterproof version) and it isn’t always that easy to remove, with the unfortunate panda eyes in the morning. Overall I don’t know if I would buy this again as it work great – but I’m not a fan of panda eyes.

So there you goes, my reviews of the Bourjois Foundations & Mascara. Will you be trying any of those out in the future? If you do, do let me know as I would be interested to hear your feedback.
