I’m featuring a fantastic etsy shop that sells gorgeous vintage antiques and treasures that would sit nicely in your home. I caught up with the shop owner, Natalie and this is what she has to say:

   ·          Hi, how are you?

Great thanks! I’ll be better once Spring finally gets a bit warmer!

·        Tell me a little about yourself, where are you from? What were your earliest memories?

I’m from Miami originally, but moved to England about 6 years ago when I met my English husband. We now live in Manchester with our lovely Cockerpoo Marley.  One of my favourite earliest memories is feeding the cats at my grandmother’s building when I was very young. It was one of the things we would do together when she would look after me.

·         Tell me about Rose and Water Vintage, how did it get started? What made you wanting to start?

I found out about Etsy through a magazine article and thought to myself, “I can do this too!”. After that it was just about finding the courage to go through with it, and the rest is history.

·        How you always had an interest in Vintage homemade items?

I was an odd child. As a ten year old I was obsessed with Antiques Road Show and my goal at the time was to find a rare antique in someone’s attic. That love of vintage and antique items never quite left me, and it’s evolved into Rose and Water Vintage.

·         What the process of picking out the items? Do you go shopping for specific items or see something that you immediately like?

It’s somewhat of a random process because you never know what it is you’re going to come across. I do sometimes go out with something in mind, and if I’m lucky I’ll find it, but more often than not I see an item that piques my interest and fall in love.

·         Why did you decide to sell your vintage home items on Etsy?

Etsy seemed like the perfect place because it was such a friendly way to do it. They communities are very supportive, and the sellers are so personable, which makes it a great experience for buyers. It’s also great to be able to sell on a site that is specifically tailored for handmade and vintage items.

·         Is there anything that inspires you?

I’m inspired by cinema and literature. Especially any films by Wes Anderson.

·         Is there a specific era that inspires you? Do you look to a certain decade for inspiration?

I love the whole time period from the twenties to the sixties. I know that’s a huge time period, but I’m not great at making decisions!

·         What make your vintage home items more special that any of the others out there?

Well every item is unique, and I would probably say that what makes the items that I have different is that I chose them so they reflect my taste. I would never have an item in my shop that I wouldn’t personally display in my home.

·        Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to get into selling vintage items on Etsy?

Do what you love, and trust your gut when it comes to that special item that you can’t make your mind up about.
