It crazy to make this statement, but it true! Here is how one blog post made £200.
No, I’m not making it up. But one blog post really did make me £200. I still pinched myself and I cannot believe it. I’m such a lucky girl.
But it was this post: New Look Delivery pass that made me £200. How did I do it? Well, let me tell you.
It all started when I signed up to this program: Affiliate window while also signing up to Michelle’s Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course.
You see, a year ago I was determined to learn about affiliate marketing. I keep hearing about it from other bloggers and how it was the best way to monetize your blog. So me being me – I wanted to be part of the action.
So I set about with learning everything there was to know about Affiliate marketing. I have already written about the benefit of doing Michelle’s Making sense of Affiliate marketing, I won’t repeat myself.
But in all honesty, that was a turning point for me. It made me properly understand It and how easy to was to make money through blogging.
Once I completed the course, I then turned my attention to Affiliate window. An umbrella program that let you be an affiliate to all the major high street brands. I’m not just talking about major high street fashion brand here, but every single brand name from all walk of life. This was perfect for me and I went about joining a few of them.
With me being a fashion and lifestyle blogger, it was only right that I would join a few fashion and lifestyle brands. And one of them is the high street staple: New Look.
The best thing when you do sign up to any brand affiliate is that you get the weekly newsletter to your email, detailing all new offers from their shops and website. I find this really useful and this is how one blog post made me £200.
One day I got an email from New Look Affiliate team detailing information on their new delivery pass scheme. If you signed up and pay £9.99, then you will get free delivery for a year.
I thought that was a bargain, so I wrote a blog post on it. I didn’t think much about it and I’d put in my affiliate links and went about promoting that post.
Soon enough, I was getting loads and loads of organic traffic to this one blog post. And that when the payment started to come in.
If you use Affiliate Window, you will see on your main dashboard when transaction happens and when someone not only clicked on one of your affiliate links; but also when someone made a payment.
It terribly exciting.
Now the payment wasn’t all in one go and I didn’t wake up one day and suddenly see £200 in my account. It was over a period of 4-6 months, but I would constantly see one transaction on my dashboard.
I think what made it work was that I got in early and reported about New Look Delivery pass before anyone else. This gave me the benefit of being one of the first bloggers to report on it, which then made me be pushed up in Google ranking when someone searched New Look Delivery Pass.
I’m not saying you need to analyze your affiliate newsletter, waiting for that one opportunity to strike first. However, in my case, it worked amazedly.
I also don’t even bother to promote the blog post anymore as I’m still getting loads of organic traffic and transaction from it.
I will finish by saying, this does also pinpoint that affiliate marketing really does work and can work really well. I still pinched myself and can’t believe that one blog post made me £200.
What did I do with that £200, I hear you ask? Well, nothing terribly exciting as I spent it paying off my credit card.
But that the story of how one blog post made me £200. It worked for me – so it most definitely can work for you.
