You might have seen on my Instagram and on my photo gallery that I went to Polesden Lacey recently. This is a National Trust property outside of London near Dorking.
If you have been reading here for a while, you will know that I do love visiting somewhere that has that fairy tale touch. Who wouldn’t want to be enchanted by a fairy-tale home and pretend they are a princess or a lady of the house.
And let me tell you, Polesden Lacey is very much an enchanted fairy-tale home. From the moment you see it, the whole property looks positively dreamy. Like it belongs to a different time era or perhaps an entirely different period or world.
I have been sharing the exterior of the home on Instagram and my photography gallery, but I thought I would show you the inside as it transforms into something out of Downton Abbey.
As you step inside, you can almost imagine Mr Carson greeting you with a silver tray of gin & tonic. Then you move into the drawing room, or what is known as the gold room. It is known as the gold room due to its gold panelling.
The drawing room has a very classic Edwardian interior, which made me think of Downton Abbey even more. You can almost imagine the Earl of Grantham reading his paper or perhaps standing by the fireplace discussing an important topic. Or maybe Dowager Countess of Grantham having an after-dinner sherry.
The dining room you can imagine being served fine foods wearing your finery gown. Where you don’t need to lift a finger, as everything is provided for you, that is the life, isn’t it?
If you want to escape to the countryside for one afternoon or perhaps would like to visit somewhere you can image yourself living in a fairy-tale existence, then let me recommend Polesden Lacey.
