Bath in Summerset is famous for its Roman Bath, natural hot water spring bath. I made a promise to myself to see it one day, so when I was invited to spend a few days in Bath last week – that what I did. I visited the Roman Bath.
Last week I was invited to spend a few days in Bath, Summerset by the lovely people at Dove. It was part of their summer revived campaign for their new tan body lotion. Now the idea was I would be pampered in a luxury five stars’ hotel –complete with a complimentary spa treatment. It was amazing and I will be going into details in due course.
Anyway, I’m not here to talk about this, I’m here to talk about the Roman Bath that I visited while in Bath. As you can’t visit Bath without seeing the ancient Roman Bath. This is where this little town gets it names – Bath’s Roman bath. Make sense?
Now hand up, who here studied the Roman while at school? Yup, I’m putting my hand up as well. It one of those things that you just had to study while at school, it also one of those things where you’re forced to dressed up as a Roman soldier and put on a play. Well, my school did this, don’t know about anyone else.
So yes, Roman was a big topic while at school. Moving on and hearing tales of the natural hot water spring bath, I did always make a promise to myself that I would one day visited.
Not because I’m terribly interested in Roman history, but this is the only natural hot water spring bath in the whole of the UK. Which is pretty amazing and something you do have to see with your own eyes.
The Roman Bath is situated in the middle of the town, just close proximity to Bath Abbey. There is an entry fee to get in – but apart from seeing the actual bath, you also get quite an extensive museum.
The famous Roman Bath is outside as you can see from the pictures. And something that my camera didn’t quite capture was the steam coming from the spring bath. Yes, steam. A thick layer of fog steam, proving that this is indeed a natural hot water spring bath.
While in Bath, I did indeed go into a natural hot water spring bath – not the roman one – but a cleaner version at the hotel spa. And it was indeed very hot to step into and did indeed feel like going into a hot bath. Pretty amazing when you think it all natural and comes from the earth.
No wonder the Roman was a fan of this and believe it has natural healing power.
The only photo I took inside the extensive museum was the little model of how the bath looked during the Roman period.
If you want to see a little bit of history, then I do recommend the Roman Bath. Let me know if you will be visiting this summer.
