I decided that I would be breaking an Instagram tradition, as this year, I won’t be having a beauty advent calendar. Here’s why.
If you follow my annual Christmassy antic over on Instagram, you will know that usually, at this time of year, I will be showcasing a beauty advent calendar. How it works is that every day on my Instagram stories, I would open a door of a beauty advent and show off what I got on that particular day.
It proved to be quite popular, and I genuinely had people messaging me and coming up to me saying how much they enjoy this little festive tradition.
But this year, I won’t be having a beauty advent calendar. Just for the simple reason is that I’m trying to declutter, and I’m still in the process of still using a few products from last year.
I didn’t want to start a new beauty advent calendar with whole new products to try out when I still had products left over. In the past, I had given away a few of the products to neighbours and family, this year, I never got the chance to do this, so I have accumulated quite a lot of products that I’m still working my way through.
Earlier this month, I was heavily observing the COP26 conference, and one of the points made with the fight against climate change is how people should stop cluttering as it will end up in landfills and just clogged uplands.
So yeah, I’m picking up on this point and agree that by decluttering, we can stop clogging up landfills and make small changes against the fight against climate change.
It is a small change that I’m hoping will make significant changes. I’m not going down the rabbit hole of talking about climate change as I spend too much of my free time debating it, but that is my general thought of why I won’t be having a beauty advent calendar this year.
However, I will still have a traditional chocolate advent calendar as I’m too much of a chocoholic to give that up.
