If you remember a particular royal wedding from a few years ago where a certain actress married a certain prince in a romantic setting at Windsor Castle? Well, I visited Windsor castle in the week, here is what I got up to.
I been to Windsor Castle before but never just the two of us and on a previous visit we never explored the town, so last week wanting to escape London for a day and visited Windsor.
This is known to be the favourite queen residence and one she spent the most time in since the pandemic. With Windsor only being an hour outside London, it easy to see why as it is an easy commute for anyone who wants the best of both worlds: the buzz of London while also having the quietness of the countryside on your doorstep.
Anyway, we decided to visit Windsor castle. Before, when we have gone with other people, you often can’t take your time and move at your own pace. So, we decided to have a leisurely day at Windsor, walking around the towns and castle.
It was said that the queen herself was in residence, but we sadly didn’t get to meet her while inside Windsor castle. From the outside, the castle looks medieval and hide the grandeur when you step inside.
I’m not sure if it was due to the pandemic or the queen was home, but there wasn’t much to see inside. Your kind ushered into one small area of the castle, and given how big it looks from the outside, I felt you only saw a small portion of the actual inside of the castle. I always find it disappointing and often wonder why I pay the fee to go inside in the first place.
However, we did go inside the chapel where Harry & Meghan got married, and it was smaller than it looked on screen. I wanted to walk around the ground around Windsor castle, but the weather wasn’t great, so I skipped that.
We did walk around the town and had my first Dum Dum Doughnut, which made me realize I prefer Krispy Cream when it comes to doughnuts. As we were walking around town, I did end shopping and ended up buying a few items.
I preferred my visit to Heaver castle a few months ago, but at least Windsor castle was one place we could tick off our list of places to visit.
