I showed you yesterday my new project, now I’m telling you my project number 2. Where I’m writing a book.
Oh, will you just look at that, as soon as September rolled around I’m just full of ideas? Though to be honest I have been full of ideas for a long time. I’m one of those people who always have some crazy ideas that would pop into my head, and then there me who would be constantly writing it down on my phone.
However, I promised that once summer is out of the way I will act on those crazy ideas. And one of those ideas is, yes I’m writing a book.
I have been saying this for a really long time, like ever since I was 8 years old. That one day I write a book. Yeah that how far back the idea has been rolling round in my brain. Growing up I was obsessed with Sweet Valley High and I was convinced I would be the next Francine Pascal. My poor mum would hear me go on and on for hours and hours how I would write the bestselling novel of all time.
(The tragic thing is, now I’m grown up is the realization that Francine Pascal never wrote a single word of any Sweet Valley High books and she had nothing to do with the books; Just her name.)
I’m sure I’ve told this story before. But not only do I want to be the best selling writer of all time, I also wanted to be an award winning journalist like Lois Lane. So anytime a teacher would ask me what I wanted to do with my life, I would reply journalist.
One day a teacher pulled me aside in class and told me that I would never be a journalist and that I should stop thinking about it and give it up. I was 14-15 at the time. As you can imagine that made me angry and I vowed to prove her wrong. Well, I did end up doing a journalism degree (fashion journalism). And well…I might not be a journalist but time have moved on and I’m now a full-time blogger. I would love to one day meet her and to tell her how wrong she is.
Despite all of that, I never gave up the dream of writing a book. I think even when I might Richard I told him that one day I’d be a bestselling novelist and live like a queen. He didn’t exactly take me seriously, he was (and still is) dubious at my claim.
As always with life, everything got in the way, home, job, money. So that why I never been able to sit down and write a frickin’ book. However, times have changed and I feel now is the right time to actually start writing a book.
For a starter, I’m now self-employed and have pretty much all the time in the world. That was always my problem in the past – time. But now I no longer have that problem. I’m extremely lucky and I now have all the time in the world.
Ok, so this book just to make it clear – will not be about blogging. I won’t be writing one of those ‘blogging guides’ you see on Amazon or any bookstores. I will leave my blogging guide to here.
(it also won’t be on SEO)
I won’t go into detail on what it will be about as it might change when I actually start the thing. I also won’t be rushing; I will take my time. I’m not looking for a quick buck. I want my readers to actually enjoy the book and to get swept into it.
I might also when I get to a certain point do a focus group and ask for your advice. However as always with me, I’m getting ahead of myself.
So yeah, you guys. I’m writing a book. This is a much bigger project than my bag blog. I will also keep you all informed and tell you how my progress is going.
Watch this space. Let me finish by asking you, what kind of books do you like to read?
